The West

In Brad’s most recent exhibit, he returns to the canvas and to the horse, which he first visited as a child. But his paintings, like his sculptures, hold more than meets the eye. The observer can simply appreciate the beauty of Mother Nature’s horse, an ever-present part of our history and our life here in the Northwest. Or one can see this powerful, once-free animal in our present world of uncertainty. If you look deeply into the canvas you may see a bit of yourself or your neighbor. Or you may see on the canvas that the animal’s uncertain footing mirrors that of the human condition, and of our environment’s endangered state. And if you look at the latest addition of Brad’s repertoire–the bucking horse–you may glean something altogether different. You might find yourself what troubles, joys or thrills make him kick up such a storm. Look into his eyes and you might see yourself, your neighbor or any one of your countrymen.
